LINKS for breakfast

Happy Sunday morning everyone. I'm working on some manga and anime reviews as well as a book review, so they'll be some things to follow this week. In the mean-time, enjoy some interesting articles I read this past week.

Vox has a fascinating look at  eminent sci-fi writer/grump and Star Trek-hater Harlan Ellison: https://www.vox.com/culture/2018/6/29/17518928/harlan-ellison-star-trek-grudge-science-fiction-rip

This is a student project at some university, I think. It's an interesting AI-based way of making anime girl faces from a pool of data. Some interesting combinations and some interesting flaws. I wonder how the AI will improve as more people guide it: https://make.girls.moe/#/

Some great writing advice. I actually think this did more for me after one read than most other writing advice things I've read: https://www.nytimes.com/2001/07/16/arts/writers-writing-easy-adverbs-exclamation-points-especially-hooptedoodle.html

Hope your weekend has been relaxing and your next week rewarding.
