The reprise part, I think its like flashback to the first time they met but from Kei's perspective instead of Emi.

Overall, I really love the story, char development, romance between the 2 and the bed scene potrayal.

I really hope that Nishio-sensei somehow continue the story. Like part 2 where Kei is finally back. It's really a shame that it partially ended beacuse the magazine its being published on is about to shut down as well.XelonYarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12861837222138709028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2739773582772593408.post-54932609996042382322020-08-23T15:07:29.079-04:002020-08-23T15:07:29.079-04:00I totally agree!I totally agree!Jaimehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11650864719718347146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2739773582772593408.post-73828161079718807252020-08-19T02:45:51.386-04:002020-08-19T02:45:51.386-04:00I can't thank you enough for this blog post.
...I can't thank you enough for this blog post.

I recently was having a discussion with an artist friend as I was using this series as drawing ref practice and he was asking me about why the ending was so unsatisfying and this blog post succintly puts everything wrong with the ending.

As I type this he's literally asked me "but why did the DJ skip town?" and I can't reply because frith if I know?

Other questions arise like, who was that truck drive? Was that Kei or was that a Kei look alike. What was up with the reprise... was that Kei and Emi at the ending? I couldn't even tell because the visuals and drawing seemed rushed. Are Kei and Emi still together just in a LDR/virtual relationship while Kei seemingly finds herself? Questions questions questions.

I just would have much rather liked another volume or a ending that tied things up in a bow nicely and was more... obvious as to what was going on.Alex Konnradhttps://twitter.com/AlexKonnradnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2739773582772593408.post-27246621405532166062018-12-27T13:10:07.054-05:002018-12-27T13:10:07.054-05:00Sorry it took so long for me to reply! I too like melancholy endings where things aren't all wrapped up in a bow, however, I didn't feel like this one flowed naturally from the rest of the story. It felt tacked on. With a few more chapters, there could have been some lead-up to this that would have made more sense. But we never got enough of Kei's psychology (although her past was hinted at) to see this coming. Also, as Erica over at Okazu pointed out, a cell phone and train tickets would have also made it possible to stay together. I want to know (again the psychology) of why Kei is running from this relationship? Because it certainly appears that that's what she's doing.

Ah well, still love it for the most-part, particularly volume 2!Jaimehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11650864719718347146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2739773582772593408.post-60032325515492087352018-12-19T22:06:34.961-05:002018-12-19T22:06:34.961-05:00Just finished reading my copy, and had to come on ...Just finished reading my copy, and had to come on here and share my thoughts :)

I'm of two minds! Part of me really wanted a more satisfying ending, or at least to see more of these two being a couple. But I'm quite happy with the turn it took for some reason...maybe not for any scene in particular, but for the general sense of wistful, melancholic fired-up inspiration it sparked in me.

I like that Emi has found a community of people who she wants to grow stronger with. I mean, sure, Kei's dilemma at the end could be resolved quickly by hiring an accountant, but that's not the story Nishio wanted to tell, I guess ^_^ There's a general feeling of 'potential' that's kind of inspiring to me. As well as nostalgia. I dig it.

Also, pp.220-221 was probably the sweetest way of saying "we need to go on a break right now." Kei shouldn't be THIS good at letting people down, omg! How much practice has she HAD?!
Christian LeBlanchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13034970863153869827noreply@blogger.com
